Jun 6th: Hidden Gem: Black Canyon Loop!

We were expecting a great ride, but we were in awe of the great roads and amazing scenery!

The Black Canyon Loop is a beautiful ride in Western Colorado in and around Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park.  This route starts in Montrose, Colorado and heads straight to the Black Canyon of the Gunnison NP.  Inside the park are two spur roads; one follows the canyon rim with beautiful views and vistas, the other takes riders to the bottom of the canyon near Crystal Dam. Even though the entire park is paved, be aware that the road to Crystal Dam is steep and narrow.

Renee and I have had a great week of Colorado riding and we realized that the routes we rode this week would make a great self-guided, multi-day tour. So in the coming weeks, we will be putting this togther as a Southwestern Colorado Tour. The routes that will be included in this new tour will be The Million Dollar Highway, Black Canyon, Grand Mesa, and the Colorado National Monument. There may be others included as well, but these are in for sure!

Safe Travels,

Renee and Dale!
