The Steelville Salem Loop is located in Southeast Missouri. Starting in Steelville and heading South through the low hills and fields. Like most roads in the Ozarks, there are more curves than straight stretches. This tour quickly enters the Mark Twain National Forest and the roads become curvier and hillier as it approaches Viburnum.
After Viburnum, the route continues South and rolls through hills and valleys to Bunker. After Bunker the route turns back North and zig zags around before emerging from the National Forest near Salem. From Salem, riders continue North and West, and even though it is no longer in the National Forest, the curves are just as good as those inside the Forest.
This fun route continues North all the way to St. James before turning East to Cuba and then returning to the starting point in Steelville.
