This route is a companion route to the Bighorn Mountains North Loop. Like the North loop, The South Bighorns Mountain Loop offers a wide variety of experiences from wide open roads, to sweeping curves, to mountain twisties. One of my favorite stretches is the curvy climb up the mountains out of Dayton. Fossil hunters can view dinosaur tracks and waterfall enthusiasts will be thrilled with Shell Falls. Be aware that this route requires a short stretch of interstate riding around Sheridan, WY. An alternative to this would require a short stretch on some gravel roads.
