The Mt. Rainier-Mt. St. Helens Tour is an out and back ride that explores some of the roads near Mount Rainier and Mount St Helens. This is listed as a 3 day ride, although you can probably complete it in 2 long days.  We chose to make it a 3 day ride so we had time to enjoy the scenery and take in some hiking along the way.  Day 1 of the ride takes you from Covington, through Enumclaw to Skookum Falls.  From there, take a cool ride up Steven’s Canyon and stop at the Henry Jackson Visitor Center for refreshments and an amazing view of Mt. Rainier’s Southern face.  From the Jackson Visitor Center this route continues on through Steven’s Canyon and eventually turns Southeast to end in Packwood.  Day 2 takes you further South to Randle Washington.  From there the route follows paved National Forest Roads NF 25 and NF 99 to the Windy Ridge Viewpoint of Mt. St. Helens.  This viewpoint is about 5 miles from Mt. St. Helens with a clear view of the blown out cone (in good weather).  Be aware that these roads are lower maintenance roads, so keep an eye out for rough spots.  The rest of this day’s riding is backtracking to Packwood.  If you want an alternative route back, take NF 26 back to NF 25.  These roads may include some short gravel stretches as well as the rough spots common on National Forest Roads in this area.  Day 3 is a return trip to Covington, but not before an awesome ride up Sunrise Park Road to the Sunrise Visitor Center.  If the weather is clear, you can see Mt. Rainier from the North.  After leaving Mt. Rainier, the route follows the original path back to Enumclaw.  From Enumclaw, you will follow the Green River past Flaming Gorge State Park before returning to Covington.
