The Heavener Mt Ida Loop is located in Southeast Oklahoma and Southwest Arkansas.  It begins in Heavener, OK and wanders South and East following Shawnee Creek into the edge of the Ozarks.  As the ride progresses, the hills gradually rise up on both sides of the road until riders are deep into the Ozarks.
 
This loop eventually crosses into Arkansas and then turns South through the Ouachita National Forest to the town of Mena.  From Mena, this route winds through farmlands and low hills that gradually grow higher and higher on the way to Norman, AR.  After Norman, it’s just a short hop up to Mt. Ida before riders turn West back toward Mena.
 
The road back to Mena starts out in the Ouachita National Forest with a series of hills and fun curves.  Eventually the road to Mena evens out and alternates between farmland and forest.  Past Mena, this ride re-enters the Ouachita National Forest again for more twists and turns. 
 
After the second visit to Mena, riders turn North again and wind their way to Waldron, AR.  From Waldron, it is just a short ride back into Oklahoma and to the starting point in Heavener.  Motorcycle Rides, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Waldron, Boles, Mena, Mayfield, Mt Ida, Black Springs, Ozarks
