The Glacier National Park Loop is a great ride and it includes one of the Must-Ride roads in the United States: Going to the Sun Road. This loop is actually made up of 3 distinct and different rides. Starting in East Glacier, the route winds through the mountains and valleys on the way to Glacier NP’s East entrance. This road is lightly travelled but be aware of wildlife and tight curves. Once you get to Glacier National Park, the pace slows down quite a bit due to traffic, but it’s ok because of all of the amazing scenery. You will see incredible rock formations and tons of waterfalls. Bring your hiking shoes and trek to St. Mary Falls or take any other of the many hikes in the park. After you exit on the West side of Glacier NP, the route follows US Highway 2 back to East Glacier. This is a major US Highway so even though there are plenty of things to see, it does experience heavy traffic at times. Before you set out on this trip, check with the National Park website to make sure you will be able to enter the park. At times, they restrict traffic through the park, so be prepared before you head out.
