The Boulder Golden Loop is located in Central Colorado, just West of Boulder. Starting on the West side of Boulder, this loop heads West and carves through Boulder Canyon as it climbs to Nederland.
From Nederland, the path travels South and East and climbs up several switchbacks as it tops the mountain and descends down the other side toward Golden. The road is constantly curving and changing altitude as it makes its way along this leg of the trip. Next, there is a short jaunt across the valley near Golden, Colorado before this loop returns to the mountains.
The return to the mountains starts up Golden Gate Canyon, winding upward and eventually crossing the pass to descend to Golden Gate Canyon state Park. From the park entrance, the path continues to curve and rise until it starts North again on Hwy 119.
From here the path heads North to Nederland and beyond on the Peak to Peak Highway to the town of Ward. This leg of the journey is marked by curves, switchbacks and many altitude changes. From Ward, the last leg is a short, curvy ride back to the starting point in Boulder.
