The Bear Butte Loop is a short, but fun, ride that starts in Sturgis and travels West to Deadwood. At Deadwood the route turns North past the Tanaka Museum and the Preacher Smith Memorial to the town of St. Onge. From St. Onge, the route angles Northwest to Belle Fourche.
In Belle Fourche, be sure to stop for a picture at the Geographic Center of the United States marker (the actual Geographic Center is on private property, this site is in the closest town).
After leaving Belle Fourche, head straight East across the prairies, then south past Bear Butte State Park and the Sturgis Dragway. On the way back to Sturgis you will pass Fort Meade.
